Description

The photo doesn't really do it much justice once online, hrmm, I'll look in in to editing the image better for putting online.

24"x32" oil painting, base painting in acrylic. Gesso primed canvas.

I've recently been getting back into traditional painting again, and this is the first image I've finished traditionally in a while, and the first oil painting in a long time.
I've also been getting back into reading and sketching high fantasy in a big way again, and I guess this is, in part my excitement for 'The Hobbit' trickling in to my work. (even though this doesn't represent any part of the hobbit, it is a halfling adventurer.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Halfling knew of the risks, he'd heard the tales, and still he ascended through the throat-like vale that wove betwixt the jagged peaks. The stories of bats the size of men had haunted every step he'd taken, yet the treasures that were rumoured to be in the roost far outweighed the notion of being carried off by an man-sized monster.
As the paths steepened and dove through the rocky landscape, trees and grasses became sparse, and plants took to clinging to the rocks for fear of blowing away. The peaks appeared suddenly above him one day and the path and his long trek to The Roost of Dragon's Maw ended, though his adventure had only just truly begun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok, so my paintings inspire some creative writings and vice versa.

Enjoy, full view is very much recommended!

Great work, Nakadai. Looks like you had a lot of fun with this one - I really wish I wasn't so scared of traditional media so I could give this a go myself :)
Can't wait to see more, keep it up!
